I was recently joined for a very special Legends With Bevo live on Facebook by the human juggernaut of getting it all done and cheering on the green and gold, Lisa Curry AO MBE.
Married to Australia’s most well-known Elvis Presley impersonator, Mark Tabone, the face of online wellness, Happy Healthy You, motivational speaker, author, lover of chocolate, mother of Australian Ironman, Jett Kenny, grandmother of three and keeper of all the Olympic village stories, Lisa Curry AO MBE is nothing short of a legend in Australian sport and constant fixture of swimming for over forty years.
Between her fangirl moments watching the Paris 2024 Olympics, Lisa reflects on her journey as an elite athlete. Starting in swimming as a twelve-year-old and ending in the late 90’s as a surf boat rower.
Lisa reveals the obstacles life has thrown at her and some of the skills she has honed to overcome adversity. Starting with her paying no attention to the naysayers, what it took to make a return to professional swimming as a thirty-year-old mother of two young children to her current battle getting into shape after surgery.
Lisa looks at our changing attitudes on sportsmanship, the joy of watching competition and poses the question, do you have to win a medal to be a champion?

Along the way he reflects on his time as a track and field competitor, the heartwarming story of how he met his wife, Kate Anderson and working with some of the greatest cricketers of all time.
Richo’s running career saw him race with the greats of track and field, Ben Johnson, Carl Lewis and train with Australian Olympic legend, Cathy Freeman. His move away from competition and his obsession for all things sporting has been turned into a career that sees him working alongside one of his childhood heroes, Bruce McAvaney.
His love of sports and his stories on and off the field give us a glimpse into the sporting world few have been able to experience.

Absolutely thrilled to have had Dr. Mark 'Ralfey' Ralfe, a highly respected sports GP, on Legends with Bevo recently.
Ralfey currently works at the Wakefield Sports and Exercise Medicine Clinic and has worked at several high level sports organisations including the GWS Giants, Cricket Australia, Australia Rugby, Australian Football Federation of Football plus more.
We delved deep into critical topics like concussion in sport and the urgent need for better head protection. We also tackled the rise of ACL injuries, especially among those over 50, and discussed whether AFL players might need to sign waivers in the future.

Exciting times for Port Adelaide Football Club fans! Young draftee, Tom Anastasopoulos, has played some great footy in the SANFL in his first season at the Magpies and shown he has a bright future.
Living with fellow draftee and good mate Lachie Charleson, Tom is embracing the challenges and joys of his new journey. Their friendship is a testament to the strong team culture at Port Adelaide.
We can't wait to see these two young guns grow and thrive together! Tom told some hilarious stories about Lachie, shared the joy of living a childhood dream by getting drafted by Port Adelaide at the 2023 National Draft, his footy journey and influences throughout his career so far.

What a pleasure it was to recently have AFL Hall of Famer and four-time premiership star John Platten on the sports version of Legends with Bevo.
We reflected on Platts' amazing career which also included a Brownlow Medal and Magarey Medal to his name plus several other accolades.
From dazzling us on the field with his fearless play to being a key figure in the Hawthorn Football Club glory days and the amazing career he had at Central Districts Football Club in the SANFL his legacy is undeniable.

In one of my favourite ever interviews it was a delight to interview one of the greatest rugby league players of all time, Wally ‘The King’ Lewis.
We spoke about some of the characters and best players that Wally played with, what it was like to captain Australia and Queensland in the State of Origin and he shared some hilarious stories about growing up with sports mad siblings.
We also discussed Wally’s brain injury diagnosis and the importance of speaking up if something isn’t right and what he thinks can be done to help reduce the number
of head knocks during games.
